Mez Packer up for 2010 Coventry Inspiration Book Award
Thursday, 15th October 2009
Mez Packer, author of Among Thieves, has been shortlisted for the 2010 Coventry Inspiration Book Award.
Run by Coventry City Council in conjunction with local libraries, the award is all about enjoying books. Local readers have nominated their favourite books – and voting is now open. Every week from January 11th, 2010, the two books with the least votes in each category will be eliminated, until the final winners are announced on 17th February. Winning authors and publishers will then be invited to an awards ceremony in Coventry’s medieval Guildhall on June 16th, 2010. Tickets for this event can be obtained from [email protected]
It is particularly appropriate that Mez’s thrilling debut novel should be up for this award, as it is set in 1980s Coventry. Among Thieves is up for the vote in the Murder & Mayhem category – alongside other great books such as Kate Atkinson’s When Will There Be Good News?, Kate Summerscale’s The Suspicions of Mr Whicher, and Alexander McCall’s No 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency.
If you enjoyed Among Thieves then please do head over and show your support by voting for Mez!
